We began as a church in late 2009 under the pastorate of Dr. Greg Johnston.  When Dr. Johnston felt led to start a new church for Hattiesburg and the surrounding area, the Lord guided him with a passion to reach the younger generations.  That guidance led him to equip a younger staff (most of which remain on staff today) ready to serve the Lord.  As the passion for reaching the younger generations grew, the Lord opened the door for the church to be able to meet in the movie theater inside Turtle Creek Mall for the first five years of its existence.  Within those first five years, The Grove Church developed a casual and contemporary atmosphere that did not shy away from proclaiming and preaching the Gospel, yet did so through biblical, contemporary, and applicable messages each week.

In 2014, the church began the process of relocating to its current location on Lincoln Road Ext.  At that time, Dr. Johnston felt led to transition from the role of Lead Pastor to Senior Pastor, and place Pastor Britt in the role of Lead Pastor.  While Pastor Britt now preaches the biblical, contemporary, and applicable sermons each week, Dr. Johnston now serves as a mentor, elder, and visionary for the staff and congregation of The Grove Church.  While we are a young church in comparison to many churches today, we are still a church that seeks to connect people to God, to others, and to service.
